Job Description

  • Perform power line assessment and engineering required to support the design, construction, review, maintenance, and accounting of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities.
  • Develop proposed distribution line extensions and/or upgrades, contracts, obtain permits, create electronic staking sheets, estimates and material pick lists, and perform field staking of line necessary to provide the requested service or distribution system upgrade and/or addition.
  • Meets with Cooperative members and the public initiating service or system change requests and provides assistance in answering technical questions.

Preferred Qualifications

AA/AS in Engineering Technology or related field of study. Five years experience performing overhead and underground distribution line design and staking certification or equivalent training.

Beneficial Knowledge

ANSI, IEEE, NESC, NEC and WAC standards; thorough knowledge of RUS standards; MS Office; project management; AC circuit fundamentals; the following software packages: ALCOA sag/tension: OSMOSE pole loading: underground cable pull planner: AutoCAD and GIS mapping systems.

Job Description

Constructs and installs overhead and underground distribution lines. Work processes include, digging holes, setting poles, climbing poles, stringing wire, trenching for underground primary and secondary, installing transformers, regulators, reclosers, installing metering and reading meters.

 Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman Lineman
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with CDL Class A
  • First aid, CPR certification and pole top rescue.
  • Applicants must possess the physical abilities to perform strenuous work (able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the workday).
  • Must be willing and available for after-hours call outs.

Journeymen Linemen: don’t have your meterman certification? No problem, meterman apprenticeship training and certification will be provided for the right candidate.

Job Description

  • Responsible for work related to the wiring, construction, operation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of metering and protection systems, and SCADA equipment.
  • Install, test, repair and maintain all types, sizes and voltages of meters.
  • Perform meter shop activities including operating all test equipment, programming, software interface with electronic meters and meter database support.
  • Maintain the meter stock.
  • Investigates and resolves member metering and power quality issues and complaints.
  • Works in conjunction with the Substation Wireman, to load and test device settings, troubleshoot devices and wiring, and equipment issues. Troubleshoot device and equipment malfunctions, and test reclosers and voltage regulators before installation in the field.
  • Works with Manager of Engineering to assist in the inspection of new substation construction, especially as it relates to protective device wiring, meter wiring, BPA metering, etc.

Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman Lineman
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Position must also complete a certified and acceptable Journeyman Meterman apprenticeship program (if you don’t already possess a Journeyman Meterman certification).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with CDL Class A
  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Additional consideration will be given for evidence of successful completion of technical or trade school coursework in a journeyman lineman continuing education program
